Opt-Out HIV Screening in Emergency Departments

Researchers found individuals were more likely to accept HIV screening in an urban emergency department when the screening was offered using an opt-out consent than when the screening was offered using an opt-in consent. This stayed the same after contraolling for demographics and other factors. Researchers recommend opt-out screening to increase the uptake of HIV testing in the emergency department setting.
