Influence of Ruptured Membranes on Perinatal HIV Transmission

A retrospective case study found no association between the duration of rupture of membranes prior to delivery, mode of delivery (vaginal versus c-section) and perinatal transmission of HIV. All women surveyed froma medical center in Toronto, Canada had viral loads under 1,000 copies/mL.
