Sperm Washing and Pregnancy in Serodiscordant Couples

Researchers reported on ten serodiscordant couples in which the male partner was HIV-positive. The couples used sperm washing and intrauterine insemination to achieve pregnancy in four of the cases. In all cases, no HIV transmission occured to mother or infant illustrating that this is a safer solution than unprotected intercourse to achieve pregnancy.
