Risk of HIV Among Women Injection Drug Users

Prevention research has not examined closely enough the social and structural systems of women injection drug users that put them at high risk for not only HIV but Hepatitis C (HCV) and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Prevention strategies for these women need to look at various areas, including recitfying the marginalization of sex workers and bringing couples who inject drug together for treatment and prevention.
