Postpartum Antiretroviral Drug Resistance in HIV-Positive Women
This study found antiretroviral naive women who received pregnancy-limited antiretroviral therapy to have high rates of postpartum drug resistance . The main determinants of resistance selection during pregnancy were the antiretroviral regimen chosen to prevent perinatal transmission of HIV. The findings strongly suppport the use of triple drug therapy when available instead of dual therapy to preserve future treatment options for mothers.
