HIV/AIDS and Childbearing Hispanics/Latinas
Hispanic/Latina women have an overall lower median age than all other races combined as well as the highest birth rate. Additionally, they have a much higher rate of HIV/AIDS than non-Hispanic white women. Due to a variety of socioeconomic factors, Hispanic/Latina women often do not learn of their HIV diagnosis until during prenatal care. These factors combine to create a growing crisis in HIV and perinatal HIV prevention amongst Hispanic/Latina women.
