Exposure to ART In Utero and Postnatally

As part of the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study, researchers looked at the monitoring data around exposure to ARTs to determine the proportion of children exposed to ARTs in utero that were subsequently HIV-uninfected. Researchers found that the use of HAART during the prenatal period has increased over time, but is still not universal. This exposure requires long term follow-up of these children to determine effects over time of ART exposure.
