Raltegravir in Pregnancy

Researchers studied the safety, efficacy and pharmacokinetics of raltegravir on pregnant women with HIV as it is useful to reduce viral load quickly, which is important in pregnancy. The multicenter study looked at 22 patients during the third trimester and postpartum to determine concentrations of the drug in the system. The drug was well tolerated in pregnancy and seems to be useful in standard doses during pregnancy for HIV-positive women.
