Prevention of MTCT in Sub-Saharan Africa

Perinatal HIV transmission continues in large numbers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Challenges such as transmission through breastfeeding and slow implementation of alternative antiretroviral regimens contribute to the high rates. This article looks at these issues and what research has shown to be effective in reducing transmission in this region.
