Pregnancy in Perinatally HIV-infected vs.Behaviorally HIV-infected Youth

Researchers found that despite mode of transmission (periantal or behavioral), both groups of HIV-positive youth were much more likely to become pregnant than their HIV-negative peers. They also had higher rates of premature birth and spontaneous abortions. These outcomes show the importance of prevention planning to reduce the rate of unplanned pregnancies in these groups.
