Obstetric and Newborn Outcomes in HIV-Infected Women Receiving HAART

A recent study examined perinatal outcomes in HIV-infected women receiving highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) compared with the general population. HIV-positive women were found to be at higher risk for preterm birth and lower birthweight infants. Additionally, HAART use was not found to increase maternal complications.
