Maternal HIV Infection and Infant Antibody Levels

This article explores the ways in which altered immune responses might influence the high morbidity and mortality observed in HIV-exposed uninfected infants. The authors found that among South African infants, there were lower specific antibody responses at birth as compared with unexposed infants. However, HIV-exposed infants displayed robust responses following routine vaccination.
