HAART increases time to clear HIV antibodies in uninfected children

Researchers did a retrospective study of HIV-exposed infants who did not contract HIV to determine the legnth of time before maternal HIV antibodies were undetectable in the infants. It was determined that seroreversion occurred at a later age than previously reported as 14% of infants still had maternal antibodies at age 18 months. Seroreversion was found to be delayed in those born vaginally and where mothers were exposed to protease inhibitors.
