Condom Use and Conception for HIV-Positive Women

In in-depth interviews, researchers found that of HIV-positive women in care for their HIV, only 25% had discussed reproduction and childbearing plans with their medical providers. These women realized the potential risks for themselves and their partners, but had not discussed alternative strategies with their providers. Providers need to be proactive in offering reproductive counseling to HIV-positive women of childbearing age.
