Conception Options and Harm Reduction for HIV-affected Couples

As HIV-infected individuals live longer, healthier lives, many are eager to conceive children. This can pose numerous risks to both partners, whether sero-concordant or sero-discordant. Reproductive technologies such as sperm washing and artificial insemination are not feasible options for many couples. This article explores other options, all of which include preconception counseling, such as self-insemination, timed natural conception, and pre-exposure prophylaxis.
