The Illinois 24/7 Perinatal HIV Hotline recently updated its Best Practice Guidelines for labor & delivery and postpartum care for people living with HIV (including those with a preliminarily positive rapid HIV test) and newborns with HIV exposure. The Hotline's guidelines are adapted from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Recommendations for the Use of Antiretroviral Drugs During Pregnancy and Interventions to Reduce Perinatal HIV Transmission in the United States. These updated guidelines feature the most recent guidance for newborn prophylaxis and infant feeding including breastfeeding.
