Illinois Law and Voluntary HIV Testing

The ACLU, AIDS Legal Council of Chicago (ALCC), AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC), and the Pediatric AIDS Chicago Prevention Initiative (PACPI) released an updated guide for clinicians regarding conducting voluntary HIV testing within the parameters of the Illinois law. Sections include: informed consent, pre-test information that must be provided (and any exceptions), age of consent, confidentiality and disclosure of results, delivery of results, referrals for care for positive individuals, and case reporting requirements.
