Use of Efavirenz in Women of Childbearing Age - Risks and Benefits
Researchers in the Ivory Coast found that the benefit of significantly increased life expectancy for positive women vastly outweighed the slight increase in birth defects among the infants whose mothers were treated with ART containing efavirenz during pregnancy compared with those on ART containing nevirapine in this computer model. Overall efavirenz is a viable option in resource-limited settings.
