Pregnancy in Perinatally-Infected HIV-Positive Women

While we know that children perinatally-infected with HIV are surviving past childhood and into adulthood thanks to advances in medicine, there is a lack of information about pregnancies in the female portion of this population. These women have potentially had long histories with the medical system yet are often non-compliant with medications and engage in unprotected intercourse, leading to pregnancy. Researchers encourage further work on developing interventions for this population around protected intercourse, medication adherence, and safe and planned pregnancies.
