Patients Lost to Follow-up Have Worse HIV Outcomes

Among those patients who were lost to HIV care follow-up for at least one year, those who eventually returned to care show a higher risk of death than those who remained in care. Those returning to care showed lower CD4 counts and a higher number of AIDS-defining events. Assumptions are made that those that never return to care have even worse outcomes.
