HIV Screening in Emergency Depts

While HIV screening of all persons ages 18-64 in 29 French Emergency Departments (EDs) identified some new diagnoses, the majority were high risk patients often late in the disease progression. The researchers felt these results were not enough to justify blanket implementation of HIV screening for adults in EDs.

A response to this study said that the results of screening studies in EDs were inconclusive as to whether or not screening should be targeted and further research is needed.
