Child Bearing Options for HIV-Serodiscordant Couples

This French cost-effectiveness analysis looked also at risks and risks of transmission of five different options for HIV-serodiscordant couples to have a biological child. The risk of transmission was found to be highest with the usage of PrEP and the lowest with medically assisted procreation (MAP - defined as sperm washing and intrauterine insemination), however MAP is not a cost-effective strategy. Limiting intercourse to the most fertile days had a low risk of transmission and was the most cost effective. The key is for the infected male partner to continue to control his HIV infection.
