Breastfeeding With Maternal ARV Therapy in Resource-Limited Settings
In a study of HIV-infected pregnant women in Rwanda, maternal HAART while breastfeeding was associated with a low risk of postnatal HIV transmission. This risk was similar to the formula feeding cohort. This approach may offer a culturally appropriate alternative to formula feeding in resource-limited settings.
